Most Etsy sellers we talk to can't tell you their take-home per sale to the dollar. Here's the 2026 fee stack and a free calculator that does the math for you.

Etsy's fee stack in 2026 is not complicated, but it is layered. Most sellers we talk to know what their listing price is and roughly know what they take home, but can't tell you the number to the dollar. This post fixes that.

We built a free downloadable Etsy Profit Calculator (CSV — opens in Excel, Sheets, or Numbers) that auto-calculates your net per sale, organic vs offsite-ad scenarios, and how many sales you need per month to hit a revenue target.

The 2026 Etsy fee stack in plain English

Listing fee: $0.20 per active listing, every 4 months (or whenever the listing sells and renews).

Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price plus shipping, charged at sale.

Payment processing: roughly 3% + $0.25 per transaction in the US (varies by region).

Offsite Ads: 12–15% of the sale, but only when the sale comes from an Etsy-driven external ad and you're enrolled (mandatory above $10K/year).

Sales tax: Etsy collects and remits in most regions, but the transaction fee is calculated on the tax-inclusive total. Annoying but small.

What you actually take home — three real scenarios

    Scenario A — $12 digital download, organic sale. Listing fee $0.20 + transaction fee $0.78 + processing $0.61 = $1.59 in fees. You take home $10.41 (87% margin).

Scenario B — $12 digital download, offsite ad sale. Same as above, plus 15% offsite ad fee ($1.80) = $3.39 in fees. You take home $8.61 (72% margin).

    Scenario C — $32 POD t-shirt, organic sale, $14 COGS. $0.20 + $2.08 + $1.21 = $3.49 in Etsy fees, then subtract $14 COGS. You take home $14.51 (45% margin).

The number most sellers get wrong

Sellers tend to plan around the organic-sale margin and then get surprised when offsite ad sales show up at a lower take-home. Plan for the offsite-ad scenario as your floor, not your average. If your business doesn't work at 72% margin on digital or 35% on POD, you need to either raise the price or change the product.

How many sales to hit your revenue target

The calculator includes a scenario block at the bottom: how many sales per month to hit $1,000 net and $3,000 net at your current pricing. Run the numbers before you commit to a price. It's much cheaper to find out you need 280 sales a month before you spend three months making 50 listings.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?

Roughly 11–13% of the sale price for organic sales (listing + transaction + processing), plus an additional 12–15% if the sale comes via Offsite Ads. Exact numbers depend on region — use the calculator for your specific case.

Are Offsite Ads worth it on Etsy?

Mostly. Below $10K/year you can opt out. Above $10K/year it's mandatory. The fee is meaningful, but the sales would not have happened otherwise — treat it as a customer-acquisition cost, not a tax.

Do I have to pay listing fees on listings that don't sell?

Yes. The $0.20 listing fee is charged when you publish and again every 4 months if the listing hasn't sold. This is why publishing 200 listings 'just to see' is more expensive than it looks.
